Verena Timmer has been a research associate at the ZNU since the beginning of 2013 (with interruptions due to parental leave) and has headed the ZNU Research Department since 2023.  She is currently researching in the BMBF research project "BioVal" how management tools can support how negative corporate impacts on biodiversity can be reduced and how even positive effects can be developed instead. She is also researching how companies can use digitalisation to integrate sustainability into their practices and promote corporate resilience.

As a senior consultant in a sustainability consultancy, Verena Timmer supports companies in implementing sustainability management systems, making sustainability measurable at company and product level and conducting stakeholder analyses.

In her doctorate at the Dr Werner Jackstädt Endowed Chair of Controlling and Corporate Management at Witten/Herdecke University, she is working on routine research topics, algorithms and looks at special corporate actors.

In addition, she has been teaching the module "Sustainability as a Change Process" at Münster University of Applied Sciences since 2018, linking her own research interests and also enthusing her students about the interplay between the topics of sustainability, change management and corporate culture.

Verena Timmer is an oecotrophologist and studied the Master's degree "Sustainable Nutrition and Service Economy" at Münster University of Applied Sciences.
